Looks feedback: Manbun vs shorter

Hello,

Couldn't find better pics of me when I had shorter hair with beard but heres a few. Black jacket with manbun photo is my current hairstyle.

Any others who have struggled with choosing long vs short?

Honestly I dont know anymore which style I should use. With manbun I've received compliments about my hair more than ever (lots of guys aswell lol) but then again, I think manbun makes me look a little bit more a nice guy.

On those days when its not tight and gets loose, it makes my head look a little bit round and big. It also takes tons of work to take care of this hair (insanely thick and long). I get lots of "wow" or "oh my god" reactions when I open it cuz its so thick but I open it only when im showering or going to sleep.

One of the photos (sidebody shot) you can see the bun itself is huge asf, that happens if you dont wash it every day. I dont know, maybe its just me overthinking but not sure long or shorter would benefit my face and personality more.

If I had to choose between the pics you posted then manbun.

But the short hairstyles aren't done very well. Did you bring a pic of an influencer you want to look like to the barber? That's step 0 of having a good hairstyle IMO

Also I'm biased towards the manbun pics because they're shot much better than the short hair pics

Oh man I've gone from one end of the hair spectrum all the way to the other.

Right now my hair is past my shoulders, and I intend to keep it long.

I get the struggle man.

Personally I think it looks great long. Agree with the "Viking vibe" comment above.

I've found long hair tends to be much more polarising than short. Also looks a lot better in the photos you posted.

They both look really good. You should rock one style for 6 months, take a ton of photos with it and see how you go online dating.

Once you've gotten a feel for the results after 6 months, change up the hair style, shoot a new batch of photos and see how it goes.

It would be super valuable for not only yourself, but the rest of the community to see your results from this.

Even if the results are "It didn't change jack shit", still valuable info.

Seems like guys here love the manbun.

Im actually firmly in the short hair camp.

I think it looks better. And besides I've heard plenty of girls complain about guys in a manbun. Or "he was so cute. Why did he have to get a man bun." Heard that more than once.

Probably doesn't matter too much. You can always cut it.

The manbun look fits you pretty good man

Girls will always be divided about some appearance things.

For every girl that says that, there's another that thinks "If only he had a manbun he'd be twice as hot."

Manbun forever 🫡

Yeah you have a point there. Yeah I did have a good photo when I went to barber with short hair. Unfortunately wasnt a big fan of taking photos at that time so dont have much. I have a few better shots without a beard though. But I look so much younger in those pics, because of that. I can post them aswell if interested

Haha, bro you look good with the long hair! Real masculine vibes there, wish I had dark hair aswell.

Actually yeah this is the mindset issue Im having. Fear of losing girls who dont find me attractive, because of the long hair. Also life was much easier with short hair. But then again, I've met girls who find my longer hair much hotter.

I just dont want people (and girls) in general think im a hippie like my co-workers used to think when I first got into the company lol. Propaply should just finetune the styling in hair and clothes.

Obviously pretty biased, but manbun/ long hair. You look more mature and better with the manbun IMO.

I've rocked the short hair before but its a pain to be going to the barber all the time to keep it presentable. Long hair is also so much more versatile for my style. I can put it in a bun, comb it straight, pony tail it, half comb back/ half down, or add accessories to it like my profile pic. I get comments on it all the time of how beautiful it is and girls jealous of how healthy it is. It also adds just a touch of femininity to an otherwise very masculine look.

As far as looking more professional with it, just slick it back and pull it tighter so from the front you look more clean cut. Keeping your beard jawline cleanly cut all the time will also help.

But at the end of the day, as you have mentioned, what makes you feel most confident? What do YOU think you look best in? Do that.

Ya I get that.

Not every opinion is equal tho.

I would sooner listen to MILFandCookies and Bman. Those guys actually have experience with longer hair.

You seem to be overly concern about other people's opinion. I think that's the main issue here, moreso than the hairstyle. Both look good at the end of the day. I think the manbun is more polarizing, since it's less common.

For the hippie thing, I think it also depends on how you dress and your demeanor. In the picture with the suit, even with long hair, you can't be associated with the hippies.

I think what Bman asked is how you should approach the issue. What do YOU want. And stick to it, and learn to not give a fuck about other people's opinion. You're attractive enough to rock any of there hairstyle and still get girls.
