THE WINNER WITHIN STYLE THREAD

joe_ronimo

Off the top of my head

Too many accessories or none at all (id rather guys did too many now tbh)
Too many colours in play
Weird texture combinations (this is minor and maybe only i notice)
Trash shoes - its not hard to have decent shoes but its like lot of guys seem to think they arent important and throw whatever on

Fit is a huge one and its weird we all got this wrong at times cause literally every bit of style advice for men starts with FIT IS EVERYTHING

Some guys hang on to stuff that was in style one year but since then everyone has gone in a completely different direction - dudes still show up on here wearing graphic tees occasionally is a good example. Pretty sure Chris recommended those on one of his style guides cause they were in around 2014

As Andy mentioned dog tags and bandanas randomly show up here and on GLL and thats cause Chris wore those

I think typically what annoys me more is guys not caring about what the wear vs guys trying hard but making errors or being well out of date

I dont recommend bold colours (like red) to newbies because im trying to minimise mistakes they could make. And id wager the majority of guys that dont know how to put together an outfit will fuck up bold colours. Equally these colours dont suit certain skin tones at all and again concerned newbies dont spot this

I agree; newbies should start with basic looks and then use their experience in the field to ascertain what will help them stand out in a positive way. As you get more experience in the field you'll see what the cool guys (that get girls) wear, and rip that shit off in a way that is congruent with your own style. Also, denim jackets are timeless as well, and stand out in a chill way.

What are some common mistakes that most guys make with fashion? Particularly ones they think are good advice but that actually isn't...

Taking the advice from the fucking nerds on Reddit's Male Fashion Advice forum. It's essentially a circle jerk of dudes cupping each other's balls about how great their boring, safe outfits look, instead of a focus on what catches women's eyes in a positive way. You don't want to look like you work at a fucking credit union or Kia dealership. No woman ever fantasized about that, and what's hilarious is that those fucking nerds jerk off to hot porn stars completely oblivious to this fact.

If scotty was around, is there things he would need to update in his wardrobe?

I get it might be weird to critique someone legendary like scotty, but are there things about what he wore that are no longer viable?

For reference. Just look at what he's wearing in the preview:

https://youtu.be/PZQ6Brjnz0c

a shirt, beanie, and jeans? looks solid too me. This is how 80% of people dress in country clubs in my area (really popular in TX.)

Vice Im gonna have to delve into fashion reddit a little bit to promote my site around. Any recommendations for decent parts of it?

Radical I can't wear anything on my wrists or around my neck. Can't stand the sensation (weird, I know). I'll occasionally wear a flat brim ball cap or a diamond nose stud (or thin silver ring). Anything else you'd suggest?

YouBetYourCottonPanties nose stud sounds like it would help, do you also wear ear piercings? Thats enough i think along with some ink and rings if you dont want to wear neck and wrist accessories

You can also put the chain on your belt that some guys have been doing

Your opinion on smart watches instead of classic watches as an accesory?
Xiaomi Mi Watch for example:

Lostcause I am not a watch guy tbh - something weird about my wrist shape doesnt let any sit well

But I dont think that would wreck your look overall though, seems fairly discreet and I know guys who dress better than me who also wear smart watches

Love that the chain is back in style. No ear studs and no ink for now. Thanks man.

Radical what do you think of this page? https://instagram.com/masculinityfashion?igshid=k2yiwf2eptzt

Also do you have any recommendations for gym fashion / lounge around the house fashion.

Apparently girls go crazy for grey swear pants.

I think the one place magic_fox does tend to miss is his gym attire, a bit too active wear where as the cool guys are looking like they're working out in a prison.

play_time_is_over that insta looks decent and they get the basics of it right for sure. Id say I trend a bit cleaner and want more simplicity though, some flashy/more daring options in there and I cant say id endorse every outfit they are profiling that ive scrolled through

I dont have strong opinions on gym fashion tbh. For me the gym is about putting in the work and little more, i tend to go in very tunnel vision and wont socialise or really notice other people at all - so what im wearing matters less to me. I go very simple with a muscle fit t shirt and active wear shorts from adidas. Its probs not too dissimilar to ol magic fox

I am a big simp for adidas in general though, i like a lot of their active wear and originals line

Plenty of insta guys rep active wear all the time. The English mens models and influencers especially so they are good for inspiration if you want to be gym style conscious.

Spur of the moment outfit idea. I saw a similar outfit with one of the IG accounts shared in GLL or here (I don't remember). Whaddya think?

The undershirt is too formal. Ditch the glasses if you can and get contacts. Get a new haircut (possibly skin fade on the sides but ask some other people about this). Jacket is cool. Pants look good from what I can see (are they black jeans?).

If I were you I would toss on a grey t-shirt underneath and then wear a chain or two on top (only one with a pendant). Then I would wear a ring.

Also note: the more attractive you are the more you can get away with. While this outfit might work on a guy who is muscular, very lean, and has a very masculine face, it won't work on everyone. Sometimes this is because of the juxtiposition of an outfit. A jacked guy in your outfit might look great because the flannel makes him look softer to balance his intense masculinity from his muscles, but a guy who isn't jacked is going to look like an average guy who's not trying to stand out or look super dope.

SIGMA_1234 I dont like plaid flannel shirts man

It screams nice guy, bland, boyfriend-y (not in a good way)

As GettinItAll says that really only works for guys that are jacked

An 'ok' way of using them is to buy one oversized and layer it over a black or white solid t shirt - throw on a necklace as well of course. But even that look is a bit dated for me

Im guessing you saw magic_fox wearing something like this, i've said on the first post i think he pulls some outfits off because he is a jacked model, not because the outfit would suit a guy with lesser looks (which is basically all of us)

You've posted what you're wearing now with the black tee on under, id leave that as the main go-to outfit for now

I commend you for experimenting and then looking for feedback though, thats good

You seem to have not moved out of your family home though based on the mirror being familiar - bad sigma

Radical, going to take a look at your ebook now as it's time to freshen up my warddrobe. I dig your website by the way. Just needs more content but I'm sure that'll come. Also, where's your bitcoin address for donations?

RogerRoger didnt think i was at the stage for donations yet lol
I need to build a top recommendation page and it can go there

Hope you enjoy the ebook

Radical I think that wasn't too serious, but seriously, no matter what stage you & your website is in, you should at least have either:

-) a paid product
-) a donation button (simple Paypal is fine)

There is a very slim chance someone will donate, but in the off chance someone does, you wanna make it easy for them to give money.

SIGMA_1234, I actually like that it's pretty hard to find how to donate to GLL - speaks to the fact that it's there for people who really want to donate and not turning off the more casual user. Of course, Radical will likely get most his coin from affiliate links (same was for GLL I assume) but I agree it's never too early.

Hey Radical any suggestions where someone can buy good necklaces? Specifically in Aus.

Most ASOS stuff is terrible. I've tried Trendhim but realised it's just eBay shit marked up 500%.

Might just have to keep searching.

play_time_is_over i've had a couple of things off Etsy that were good

You're in Melbourne, is Victoria market open? You can find stuff there
